On the Road

I continue to work on my poker game in my quest to win the 2010 World Series of Poker. I spent most of the week preparing for Christmas and doing Christmas related activities. In other words I had another light week on poker preparation.

I continue to spend time reading poker books. Theory of Poker by Sklansky was my book of choice this week. I have read this cover to cover several times and lately I just go back and refresh myself on particular subjects. I was researching play in multi-way pots.

I played some small no-limit in a home game and had poor results. I played decent but was not very focused and did not exploit my advantages. I will focus on maximizing my return next time I am in this small game.

I worked on the blog a little bit this week adding a few pictures to some of the posts. I will be working to improve the look and feel of the blog over the next couple weeks.

I will be hitting the road on Sunday for about a week and I will do my best to keep my blog updated daily. This time next week we should know if I won the big tournament at Elk Valley Casino.

Victor, Poker is a game based on PATIENCE. When you learn to master that key element of your game, your chances of winning any tournament will vastly improve. POSITION is paramount to becoming a bit more agressive in your betting and certainly your constant watching of the bet to pot size ratio is a part of the game that many do not watch in their decision making process. I believe that the hardest part for me to learn is PERCENTAGES…..i think(?) that understanding clearly, seperates the men from the boys. Just because you are not in the hand, doesnt mean its time to slack off. Its the time to watch your oppenents play habits carefully!! Or as Yogi Berra would say, ” You observe alot by watching”. I keep trying to learn this very painful game…but the one thing you can NEVER learn is……..LUCK! I wish you good luck in learning and winning !! Ron
